A Very Serious Letter From A Britney Fan

This is a pretty long post regarding Britney's current status on her career and her life. I know, a lot has been told these days and I'll repeat some of those things here. Please, if you're not interested don't bother half-ass reading this just so you can tell me to shut up or god-forbid, that I'm not a real Britney fan. Once again, and forgive me for my language, if you're a fucking blind Britard living in a pink bubble, please do not comment on this post because it's pointless. Thank you.

There's been a lot of speculation and crazy talk on Exhale ever since HIAM made a debut. I think it became pretty obvious to some of you that this era is not going to be what we expected. Yes, we expected too much. But can you really blame us? And by us I mean fans that are following Britney ever since her very early days. How can we not expect much after witnessing all those VMAs, amazing performances and everything Britney was? Personally, I am mad at Britney. I know that I have no idea what's really going on in her life but one thing is for sure – it's not ok to give your fans a half-assed era after everything they did for you. Now, here's the sentence I've heard quite a lot lately – Britney doesn't owe us anything. Really? I know you love her, but be realistic just for a second. I will not reffer to the early days (1998 – mid 2004) because we stood up for Brit because she really did give us a lot.

Majority of fans stayed with Britney during the whole madness that started in late 2006. Goddamn, we've been there even when she married that douchebag! I personally tried so hard to like that son of a bitch. When your idol, and we're talking about a real icon here, shaves her head, goes to rehab, fails drug tests and loses the custody of her kids and you're still here after all of that, well, you do expect something in return. We've witnessed photos of Britney having period , many photos of her vagina, of her puking in her car. We were the ones who defended her while Us Weekly/In Touch/Star Magazine tried so hard to bring her down. We were the ones standing up for her on YouTube arguing with those bastards and their nasty comments. We were the ones who BOUGHT everything Britney released. Fuck, we were the ones who bought several copies of Blackout on iTunes hoping she would surpass Eagles' first week sales. We were the ones listening to that Ryan Seacrest interview where, for the first time, became obvious that our Britney is out of her mind. We were the ones who pushed the Circus era so hard. I know, Britney's been mentioning us a lot lately but that would hardly ever make it up for what we did. I'm sorry I'm being so dramatic but please, try to understand me. It was hard. And all of you that were in similiar positions know that.

And don't you dare to tell me she doesn't owe us anything. If it hadn't been for us, Britney would've never found her way back in 2008. Yes, it's true. Sometimes I can't believe how blinded some of you are. Get in touch with the real world. The day when Britney was presented as an drug-abuser and unfit mother the interest of general audience stopped for her. They only care about the tabloid stuff. Britney lost her status of top female artist. It's not because Gaga. Gaga only helped with that.

This "Femme Fatale" era is the real evidence that Britney doesn't like being a pop star. She stopped loving it in 2004 and ever since then she's been struggling to continute with it only because she feels like she has to. I know she likes making music and dancing but the public part of being a pop star is not interesting for her anymore. Further more, she's afraid of it. It's making her nervous and obviously she can't let her self go and just be in any public speech of performance. And that includes video shootings and all those industry people watching here there. I believe 2007 damaged her a lot and now she simply can't stand the pressure. I don't blame Brian for pumping us with tweets and MTV interviews. I really do believe she was amazing in rehearsals. Britney is such a talented dancer and you can't wipe talent just like that. Nothing can wipe the talent she has. But she can't show it. She's stuck in her mind full of fears, the lack of self-respect and a serious need to just have a family and a quiet home.

The reason I'm mad is because this era is not fair for the fans. We don't deserve to be let down anymore. This time, we deserved to be awestruck by her. I'm mad because Britney knows, and I'm 100% sure about that, that she isn't bringing it. I'm mad because she's taking us for granted. I understand, trust me, I really understand her. It's obvious she has a mild type of bipolar disorder. I've been here on Exhale everyday in 2007 and watched her going through all that stuff but that helped me, because at that time I was also struggling with bipolar. I was also trying to learn how to put myself back into the real world. I see it. I know she wants to be a normal person, I know all of this is a drag for her. But she should've step out and say so. Ok, maybe that's unrealistic too expect Britney holding a press-conference where she will announce her retirement. She's not a baseball player but still. All of this could've been done very differently. I wish people in Jive confronted her with the real situation. They're letting her be in her little world created by Jamie and her handlers. Just as long as they get money. I believe that only person who sees Britney as she really is – is Jason. She couldn't have done all of this without him. It's clear to all of us that she's not that happy. It's clear that she is taking some kind of medication. It's clear that her life by itself it's hard enough. So no, trying to be a pop star she used to be is not the right track. She's exhausting herself physically and mentally and I'm afraid for her.

I said I was mad. I can't be mad at Britney. I'm just starting to realise that something have come to an end. And I'm writing this because I know there are a lot of here feeling the same way.

Once again, a lot of this has been already told so forgive me to bother you. Also, I'm sorry I stated some of my opinions as facts, I know it's wrong. But this time, some of the truth is just too obvious. If you managed to this sentence then I thank you very much. This helped me a lot.

Btw, fans that are writing goodbye topics and leaving - fuck you. I understand your frustration but you don't give up on Britney just like that.

p/s : Are you guys agree with him/her?

BRITNEY : Rumor Of The Weekend

Fans are speculating Z100 in New York City's going to reveal a possible Femme Fatale song-collabo between Britney and another artist.

Britney's rumored to cover V Magazine on March 3rd, shot by famous phptographer, Mario Testino!

Britney Spears 'Black Widow' Demo Real or Fake?

Britney Spears has a new album coming out!  If you didn't know that, then you may be living under a rock (insert Geico commercial here). Over the last few weeks we have had teaser clips of songs off of the upcoming 'Femme Fatale,’ the release of the 'Hold It Against Me' video, and an announcement of a release day concert that will be shown live on Good Moring America.

Now we have a new video on YouTube that claims to be a demo of a song titled 'Black Widow.'  According to the clip, the song is a raw take of a song from Spears' upcoming 'Femme Fatale.'  The video has Britney fans talking, and as you might expect questioning whether or not it really is the pop princess.

You can hear 'Black Widow' here.

The real question here is: is this really Brit?  Many people believe it to be a fake, perhaps produced by electro-pop singer, Myah Marie.   It makes little sense for a demo of a song from the album to actually leak this close to the release date unless this were a) really not Britney Spears at all, or b) if it is Britney, a song that didn't make the cut.

Whatever the case, Myah Marie has remained quiet on her Facebook, Britney and her team has remained quiet on Twitter, and fans are buzzing about the video.

Britney Spears Announces 'Good Morning America' Performance

Spears will perform for the show in San Francisco on March 29, the day of her Femme Fatale release.

Britney Spears is at announcing her first live television performance to promote her March 29 album release, Femme Fatale. The day the album drops, Spears will hit the stage for "Good Morning America," she shared in a video message for her fans.

Wearing a nude-colored bandage dress and a heart necklace, Spears got right to the point in the 24-second clip.

"Good morning, America," she said, her voice sounding a bit low and hoarse. "I'm excited to tell you on Tuesday morning, March 29, I'll be performing for the first time ever in a special concert in San Francisco's historic Castro district on 'Good Morning America.' And I promise you it'll be a morning to remember. See you soon!"

Spears appeared on "GMA" in December 2008, the day she released Circus, and performed tracks in an over-the-top spectacle of a three-ring circus.'

Though she has yet to do any interviews to promote her single, "Hold It Against Me," the star recently shared that she had every intention of making the press rounds for Femme Fatale. In a recent Twitter chat with fans, Spears revealed her plans. "I'm doing a lot of promo," she said. "I'm thinking about the tour right now, and I would [love] to visit a lot of places I didn't get to go to on my last tour."

In that Twitter chat, Spears recently described the album as "moody, edgy pop with A LOT of energy. I co-wrote a couple of songs. I think it's some of the best work I have ever done," she wrote. "There are a few mid-tempos that could be considered ballads. I have a lot of history with #MaxMartin and @ so it's always fun to collaborate with them. They make such incredible music. I'm so excited and I can't wait for you guys to hear it. I think it's some of the best work I have ever done!"

Jessie J Doesn't Hit The Spot For New Britney Album

She may have everyone from Justin Bieber to JLS wanting to work with her, but apparently Britney Spears thinks she can manage without Jessie J's help

Jessie, 22, who had penned a track for Spear's new album 'Femme Fatale', revealed that a track she had written for the former pop princess will not be featured on the album.

The 'Do It Like A Dude' star told Topman CTRL MX: "I recently wrote a track for Britney and I loved it but she didn't use it for her album."

Jessie J has been previously quoted as saying the track was "more British than you would expect but with the Britney swag" adding that "it could be the most amazing thing I've done."

The 'Price Tag' star shouldn't worry though as she later revealed that she has been writing new tracks with Spear's ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

The track is called 'Till The World Ends' and is produced by Dr Luke.

'You know when you go out and you're having an amazing, magical night and you don't want to go to sleep and you want it to last until the world ends.'

It's not known if the track will end up making the final tracklisting of 'Femme Fatale'.

Katy Perry Gets Mad With "Filthy" Media

Katy Perry has taken to the Twitter airwaves to defend herself and other artists against recent reports on the use of product placement in music videos

After news broke that Britney Spears earned a reported half a million dollars for the various product placements in her music video for 'Hold It Against Me', music stars have been weighing in on the debate. One of those people is Katy Perry, who responded to a tweet by Marina and the Diamonds asking people their thoughts on it.

Marina tweeted: "What is consensus on product placement in videos? As a fan, do you prefer product placement if it means bigger budget vid?"

To which Katy Perry replied: "do it w/style & grace. Not so in ur face like some. U hv to get creative w/it. Some artists don't care tho, & u can tell."

However, as headlines emerged that Perry had 'slammed other artists' for the use of products placement, the singer took to her Twitter page to unleash an attack on the tabloid media after feeling her earlier remark had been completely twisted.

She added, "Dear tabloid media aka FILTH@: pls note I expressed and overall feeling about product placement, their roles in vids and the art of using them being complimentary or sticking out. Most, if not ALL popsters welcome deals w/products to offset costs of big budget vids in these recessionary music industry times. I've used them in MY vids before and am happy to be able to make a better video because of it. Once AGAIN stop pitting artists against artists for your sensational satisfaction and stick to what you're best at - lying, gossiping, exaggerating and overall lending a hand to the deterioration of a generation.

p/s : now she's in a hot soup for calling the media FILTHY. She's better to watch out her next words though ♥

Britney Spears Made $500,000 From Product Placement in 'Hold It Against Me' Video

Britney Spears made half a million dollars from the product placement in her music video for "Hold It Against Me," according to TMZ. Among the products featured in the clip are various Sony televisions and monitors, Make Up Forever eye shadow, Spears' own Radiance perfume and the dating website Plenty of Fish.

It's worth noting that "Hold It Against Me" director Jonas Åkerlund also made the music video for Lady Gaga's "Telephone," which also featured a great deal of conspicuous product placement including a nod to Plenty of Fish.

Billboard : Britney Spears vs Lady Gaga - The Final Result

It's the moment you've all been waiting for... After millions of votes, cries of foul play, and a controversial but necessary do-over, we finally have a winner to our Britney Vs. Gaga song poll, and this time it wasn't even close.

Britney Spears fans spoke loud and clear and named "Hold It Against Me" the overwhelming favorite with a whopping 68.7%.

Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" took 26.7% of the votes.

And 4.6% of Billboard.com visitors said they liked both songs and wished we could all just get along.

Despite the numbers, we're sure Lady Gaga isn't sweating it. Last week, "Born This Way" became the 1000th No. 1 song in the history of the Hot 100 chart. And just last night (Feb. 21), she ruled New York's Madison Square Garden, filming a special for HBO that had Paul McCartney, Billie Joe Armstrong, and other celebs putting their paws up.

At the same time, Britney Spears is whetting fans' anticipation of her new album, "Femme Fatale" (due March 29); "Hold It Against Me" is also a Hot 100 chart-topper, and over the weekend she leaked two new songs, "Inside Out" and "I Wanna Go."

With so much more in store in 2011, we're sure the Britney vs. Gaga saga is far from over, but one thing is clear: these two leading ladies will keep pop music interesting for a long time to come.

Katy Perry & Marina Diamadis Slam Britney Spears “Hold It Against Me”

INSIDE SCOOP

Katy Perry and Marina Diamandis have hit out at Britney Spears new video “Hold It Against Me”.
The pair who were talking on Twitter slammed the clip which sees Britney use of product placements in the promo.

Marina said: “What is consensus on product placement in videos? As a fan, do you prefer product placement if it means bigger buget vid?”

Katy then replied: “@MarinasDiamonds do it w/style & grace…Not so in ur face like some. U hv to get creative w/it. Some artists don’t care tho, & u can tell.”

p/s : Katy deleted her tweet afterward. Maybe she don't know the MTV's version has no product placement. Isn't she? Oh, and, yes, she's also meant Lady Gaga's videos too. How silly she against one of the biggest pop stars nowadays?

Katy Perry Insulted Britney Spears & Lady Gaga Music Video

Katy Perry is jealous and getting bitchy about the fact that her peers and rivals Britney Spears and Lady GaGa are capitalizing on offers for product placement that she just isn’t getting.

Perry tweeted on her twitter account : “do it w/style & grace… Not so in ur face like some. U hv to get creative w/it. Some artists don’t care tho, &u can tell.” And this in reference to the obvious advertising Brit and Gag are doing in their music videos – sounds like a whole bucket of sour grapes.

Britney Spears and Lady GaGa use prominent product placement in their music videos and rake in a fortune for doing so. The practice of selling advertising in movies and on TV shows is a well established method of bringing sponsors and producers of entertainment together. It is rare these days to see a Hollywood production without some evident product placement and since we live in a commercial consumer oriented economy there is no point bitching about this.

If and when Perry gets a juicy offer to promote something and turns it down, then she will be in a position to criticize her more popular and successful competitors. And this in reference to the obvious advertising Brit and Gag are doing in their music videos – sounds like a whole bucket of sour grapes.

p/s : Katy deleted the tweet a few minutes later, after furious Britney's Army & Little Monsters replied her tweet.

Britney Spears vs The Bellamy Brothers

Britney Spears is facing legal action over her new single 'Hold It Against Me'.

American country rock duo, 'The Bellamy Brothers', has claimed that it bears resemblance to their 1979 signature ballad 'If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me?)', reports the Daily Express .

Now, David and Howard Bellamy are meeting lawyers with a view to suing the 29-year-old pop star, and four songwriters for plagiarism.

Just like the Bellamy Brothers' original, the lyrics to Spears' song portray the singer seducing someone on the dance floor.

It is the first single to be released from her forthcoming seventh studio album 'Femme Fatale'.

"Howard and I have no personal beef with Britney, she's a talented gal, but professionally, and in all honesty, we feel completely ripped off, said David Bellamy, 60.

"Where's the originality? If you listen to the lyrics of Britney's single and compare it with ours you'll find some major similarities," he said.

"We will take the appropriate legal action if our attorneys agree we've been ripped off," he added.

"She is not aware of this situation. If this is a legal matter we would have nothing to say until our lawyers have been alerted," said a spokesman for Spears.

p/s : On the other side, MTV has asked lawyers about this issues last month, and they sure enough Britney's can't be sued because of the lyrics as it's not under the law itself.

HOLD IT AGAINST ME : Music Video Review

Alright, kids. For today’s course in Critical Thinking, we present Britney Spears’ new video for “Hold It Against Me,” which was just unleashed onto the world on Thursday night, and it’s ripe with self-reflective symbolism.

clearpxl
In the epic 4-minute plus clip, we see worlds collide and one woman standing at its center: Britney, in all her long blonde, bare-bellied glory. After starting a typical writhing around with male backup dancers routine (just how we like it), things take a turn for the weird.

Britney is the futuristic queen of this world, much like she was in 2000’s “Oops!..I Did It Again,” except she’s more like the white queen of media (sorry, Perez) in this screen-based society.
On the screens (which, just so you know, were sponsored by SONY. You want to buy a SONY), Britney’s got her near-entire videography, including her early clips for “..Baby One More Time” and “Sometimes.”
So when Britney sings “If we could escape the crowd somehow,” it takes on a whole new meaning. The crowd of cameras? Screens with her own inescapable image?

We see Britney surrounded by microphones upon microphones, where we start to see there’s a darker side to Britney than just ripped-denim and hip-shaking. But we all knew that, right?
Britney rises to the top of her pop video world in her long white-flowing dress before we near a musical breakdown, and well, what seems like a personal one as well (you might have to pause to check out her nightmarish joker smile just before it goes down).

Britney’s tubed fingers shoot paint all-over her seemingly perfect white dress and her early, sweet-faced but “not that innocent” images. At the same time, Britney gets into an all-out, kung fu fight with who else? Herself. There, it’s a battle to the death (and in heels!).

Beyond all the double-meanings and self-combating, we’re left in the end with Britney the performer, who’s still in the middle of this camera-filled “Circus” so many years later. 13 years since she first hit the scene with that “..Baby One More Time” video, in fact.

Yet she’s still got us trying to explain why she’s got such a grasp on pop music and pop culture after all this time. But whatever the reason, we’re happy to enter Britney’s world again and again and we definitely can’t hold it against her for that.

Britney Spears and will.i.am Teaming Up for Second 'Femme Fatale' Track

will.i.am and Britney Spears are collaborating again! The Black Eyed Peas star has already laid down one track for her upcoming album Femme Fatale and they were back in the studio for a second time this week.

Britney Spears (Photo Agency) will.i.am revealed on his twitter page: “In the studio with @britneyspears today. we recorded another song for #femmefatale. that's 2 bangers"

And it seems Britney is just as pleased with the results of their collaboration, writing in response: “@iamwill We make sweet sweet music.”

The ‘I Gotta Feeling’ hitmaker has already boasted that their first song is going a “mega smasher”, and he can’t wait for Britney’s fans to hear it. In an earlier twitter post, he wrote: “This britney song is so addictive ... I'm in the studio adding finishing touches ..."Uh oh" this one is a "MEGA SMASHER"

Britney Spears' Manager Breaks Down 'Hold It Against Me' Fight Scene

'There's a public Britney and there's a private Britney, and they're very different,' Larry Rudolph tells MTV News of Britney-on-Britney battle.

Even with the fashion, dancing and technology elements of Britney Spears' just-premiered video for "Hold It Against Me," the pop singer's one-on-one battle with herself seems to be the most talked-about scene.

Larry Rudolph, the pop princess' longtime manager, spoke to MTV News via Skype after the video premiere about the climactic fight sequence and further clarified earlier reports that indicated that Britney had used a body double for the clip's dance scenes.

"It was good," Rudolph said of the combat scene. "Of course, there was a body double in there that she was fighting most of the time, which is where some confusion came in. ... I heard some rumors that she used a body double. The reality is, she used a body double for the fight scene, 'cause it's all the fight herself."

So what does the epic battle scene mean to him? While he hopes fans draw their own conclusions, he shared his theories with MTV News.

"There are really two different Britneys," he said. "There's a public Britney and there's a private Britney, and they're very different. Maybe the world doesn't really know that, maybe those of us who do know her really well understand that, but there really are two different Britneys. Maybe at some times the two Britneys are at odds with each other; most of the time they're not. There's some of that going on. I think it's also about Britney just being strong and still on top after all these years. ... But there's a few different ways to look at it."

Nicki Minaj Only Wants to Work With Britney

Nicki Minaj has ruled out collaborating with any artist other than Britney Spears over the next two years.

Nicki Minaj will only consider collaborating with Britney Spears.

The 26-year-old rapper - who has starred on tracks by Kanye West, Rihanna and Drake and Sean Kingston - has vowed to stop guesting on other people's songs while she firmly establishes herself among the music industry.

She told website Hip Hollywood: "I'm done with collabs. No more collabs for the next two years. Although - Britney's a snatch like me and she's cute. Yes. We might do something."

The Trinidad-born star has also recently picked out her collaboration with Barbadian singer Rihanna - entitled 'Fly', from her debut album 'Pink Friday' - as one of her favourites because of the strong message it sends.
Nicki added: "I wanted to work with Rihanna for a long time. I'm very proud of her accomplishments; especially since she was born on an island like me.

"This song is a female empowerment song. But then again, it's not specific to just women. It speaks about flying, soaring high in the face of every single solitary adversity that comes your way."

Britney Spears' Top 10 Best Music Videos : Billboards' Poll Results

From her very first music video -- for "…Baby One More Time" -- at age 16, Britney Spears has shown a flair for theatrics in her videos. Costumes, movie-esque plotlines and of course, sexy dance moves that inspire double-takes.

Check out the videos that the voters vote to be her 10 best on Billboard.com

10. Oops!... I Did It Again, 2000

Percent of Fan Votes: 2%
Fun Fact: Britney's red catsuit wasn't the only dangerous thing about the "Oops" video shoot. During the filming, a camera fell on Brit's head, requiring her to get four stitches.

9. Piece Of Me, 2007

Percent of Fan Votes: 3%
Fun Fact: 2007 was a tough year for Britney, but Spears turned the tables on her personal dramas and used them as fodder for the much-discussed "Piece of Me" video. The $500,000 clip was shot all in one day, and was well-received by fans and critics alike. It went on to win Video of the Year at the 2008 Video Music Awards.

8. Stronger, 2000

Percent of Fan Votes: 3%
Fun Fact: The chair sequence in the "Stronger" video (Britney's idea, of course) was inspired by Janet Jackson's video for "The Pleasure Principle."

7. Overprotected (Darkchild Remix), 2002

Percent of Fan Votes: 4%
Fun Fact: Just as Britney did in her "Stronger" video two years earlier, she finds inspiration from Janet Jackson. Both the "Overprotected" Darkchild Remix video and Janet's 2001 "Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)" video use the same hotel lobby setting, filmed at Los Angeles' Millennium Biltmore Hotel.

6. Me Against the Music, 2003

Percent of Fan Votes: 4%
Fun Fact: The infamous 2003 VMAs kiss was the start of a beautiful friendship for Brit and Madge. It was during those rehearsals for the awards show that Britney asked Madonna to duet with her on "Me Against the Music."

5. Circus, 2008

Percent of Fan Votes: 5%
Fun Fact: While Britney fans went gaga (excuse the pun) for her "Circus" video, PETA was less than thrilled with the clip. Several days after the video's release, the animal rights organization issued a statement bashing Brit for using "cruelly trained lions and elephants" and pleaded that she "stop using exotic animals in her videos and concerts once and for all" (referring to "I'm a Slave 4 U").

4. ...Baby One More Time, 1998

Percent of Fan Votes: 8%
Fun Fact: Brit's videos may cost millions these days, but it wasn't always the case. The now iconic Catholic school girl outfit Britney wore in her very first video -- as well as all the other costumes -- were bought at K-Mart for less than than $17 each.

3. Womanizer, 2008

Percent of Fan Votes: 10%
Fun Fact: As revealed in MTV's 2008 "Britney: For the Record" documentary, Britney approached the "Womanizer" video as a sequel to her 2004 video for "Toxic," both of which were directed by Joseph Kahn.

2. I'm a Slave 4 U, 2001

Percent of Fan Votes: 15%
Fun Fact: As iconic as Britney's "I'm a Slave 4 U" video is, there are also two different versions of the clip available on Spears' 2004 "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative" DVD.

1. Toxic, 2004

Percent of Fan Votes: 27%
Fun Fact: Your all-time favorite Britney video was also her all-time most expensive. "Toxic," filmed over three days at a Los Angeles sound studio, cost $1 million to make. The now-iconic video for the song (which was originally offered to Australian pop star Kylie Minogue), helped "Toxic" become one of Britney's biggest hits.

Songwriter Claude Kelly Praises Britney Spears' Fearlessness

Pop icon Britney Spears will release the highly-anticipated music video for her new single “Hold it Against Me” in a matter of days, but in the meantime, songwriter Claude Kelly is dishing about the album, entitled Femme Fatale.

Claude tells the Orlando Sentinel, "I would say ['Hold It Against Me' is] the tip of the iceberg because that's the very beginning of a whole album."

In comparison to Spears’ 2008 album Circus, Claude says Femme Fatale is “darker" and "edgier," but keep in mind that it will “still [have] fun pop records."

Claude admits producers Dr. Luke and Max Martin are “in charge” of the final cuts of the album, which has a March 29 release date, MTV News reports.

“I'm not even sure myself what made the cut. I know there's something workable in there, but I worked on her last album as well, so it's kind of a continuation of that,” he explains.
Claude went on to praise Spears’ adventurousness in the studio, saying, "For me, I get inspired by the artist that I'm working with. With Britney, she's really not afraid to try anything," he said. "So it allows you to be more creative and say sexier things, say more mysterious things with her. It's kind of all things go."

Britney Spears Video Premiere To Be Followed By Live MTV.com Chat

Special guests will break down 'Hold It Against Me' clip Thursday at 11 p.m. ET on MTV.com.

On Thursday, Britney Spears will debut her new music video for "Hold It Against Me" at 9:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com, and in celebration of Brit's epic return to the medium that made her a star, MTV News is hosting a live discussion on MTV.com following the premiere, with a full hour of special guests breaking down the new video and looking forward to what we can expect from Femme Fatale.

Our Britney Spears and "Hold It Against Me" discussion, hosted by MTV News' Jim Cantiello, will stream live Thursday, February 17, at 11 p.m. ET on MTV.com an hour after her big video's world premiere. The clip will make its debut just before a new episode of "Jersey Shore."
The highly anticipated video serves as the lead clip from Britney's March 29 album release, Femme Fatale. On Monday (February 14), Spears released another new tease from the Jonas Åkerlund-directed clip. Lights flash as several male dancers, dressed all in white, fall to the ground, perhaps adding another piece to the dance-routine puzzle. As they hit the ground, a note hums in the background and the words "Hold It Against Me" hit the screen.

Spears took to Twitter to share the link with her fans, writing, "#3daystoHIAM you ready?"
While 2011 seems to be the year of the female pop star, one person close to Britney said this video will boost Spears above the pack. "She's showing that you have to push it as an artist: that you can't just settle, that you can't be calm with your choreography, that you have to make a statement," the video's choreographer, Brian Friedman, told MTV News. "There's so many people out there competing in this world to be the queen of pop, and she's definitely claiming her throne."

MTV : Britney Spears Made A Name For Herself With '... Baby One More Time' Video

In anticipation of the premiere of Britney's 'Hold It Against Me' video, we look back at her iconic 1998 clip.

It's hard to believe that in 1998 a schoolgirl uniform caused so much trouble, but that's just what happened when a pouty Britney Spears donned the now infamous costume in her video for "... Baby One More Time." Well, it seems Britney had some idea that the costume idea would make the video memorable.

"My idea originally was just jeans and T-shirts, and we were at the wardrobe fitting and Britney holds up the jeans and T-shirts and says, 'Wouldn't I wear a schoolgirl outfit?' " the video's director, Nigel Dick, told MTV News in 2009. "Every piece of wardrobe in the video came from Kmart, and I was told at the time not one piece of clothing in the video cost more than $17. On that level, it's real. That probably, in retrospect, is a part of its charm."

In 2000, Spears spoke to MTV News about baring her belly in the clip, noting that it felt like the most natural thing in the world to do. "Me showing my belly? I'm from the South: You're stupid if you don't wear a sports bra [when you] go to dance class, you're going to be sweating your butt off," she explained. "It was such a wonderful experience. All these people there, working for you. I had my own trailer. It was an amazing experience."

Spears was then an unknown pop singer and Dick had already established himself as a music video guru. The decision to work with Spears left many perplexed. "My response was, 'It's a great song. I don't know anything about Britney. I never watched 'The Mickey Mouse Club.' She seems like a great kid and she's very enthusiastic,' " he said. "But I just love the song. It's just a great song.

"I decided to try this idea that someone had thrown at me and they hated it — they absolutely hated it," Dick said about the video's simple setup. "So I jumped on the phone with Britney and she says, 'Well, now I think it should be about me in school and there should be lots of hot boys around,' and that was pretty much it — oh, and a bunch of dancing. And my response was, 'OK.' "

In a 1998 interview with MTV, Spears revealed that she wanted the video to reflect the lives of her fans, so she wanted to set it in a school. "The first idea we had for the video was so off the wall," she said. "I was like, 'I want something a lot of kids can relate to.' It's just a fun video."

That same year she noted that as soon as she heard the song, she knew she had to record it. "It's a song every girl can relate to," she said.

The song was recently featured in the "Britney/Brittany" episode of the hit show "Glee," with Lea Michele playing the Britney schoolgirl role

Billboard : Britney vs Gaga - The Lies of Liittle Monster

Earlier today, the BreatheHeavy Twitter received a flood of @ messages saying Gaga fans are screwing up our Billboard win! We responded with this Tweet telling Billboard there's some sketchiness going on.

On Friday we posted the Billboard poll asking fans which song's better: Hold It Against Me or Gaga's Born This Way? Britney was winning. By a landslide! But ever since the crafty monsters got their hand on software that rigs the poll, Gaga's taken the lead... and we're pissed!

Billboard Tweeted readers this message:

Maybe Gaga fans are just bitter about THIS! Cheaters never win and winners never cheat! Bring it!

Jennifer Lopez Album Release Same Day As Britney Spears

Rap-Up has confirmed that Jennifer Lopez will release her new album ‘Love?’ on March 29th, the same day as pop heavyweight Britney Spears. The LP serves as her first since parting ways with Epic Records and signing with Island Def Jam.

There’s no doubt Jenny from the block will be milking the hell out of her American Idol popularity to ensure that her album meets decent first week sales. She’ll also more than likely use the Idol platform to promote the hell out of it (hell, who wouldn’t?). As to whether it will be enough to strongly compete with Ms Spears (and her extremely loyal fanbase) without being left behind in the dust is yet to be seen. A risky decision to say the least, but very interesting at the same time.

Britney Spears Doesn't Channel Lady Gaga In 'Hold It Against Me' Video

Brit may be working with 'Telephone' director Jonas Åkerlund, but choreographer Brain Friedman debunks possible comparisons.

Just because Britney Spears is working with "Telephone" director Jonas Åkerlund and his stylist wife B. Åkerlund for the "Hold It Against Me" video does not mean that the clip will mirror Lady Gaga and Beyoncé's extravaganza. Spears' choreographer, Brian Friedman, said the video is all Britney.

"The styling for this video is beyond what Britney has done before," he teased. "B. Åkerlund did the styling for it, and I can say that it is not 'Britney does Gaga.' That is not what's happening with this. Gaga has her own niche, and although B. has worked with Gaga before, she's not giving Britney anything that Gaga would wear. I love seeing Britney try out new things. It's just an extension of what Britney already is."

With potential Gaga comparisons debunked, Friedman talked about having fun with Spears on set and helping her regain that joie de vivre that fans have come to know and love when she's out on the dance floor.

"One of the places that we always tend to improve with Britney is on her beauty shots, when it's just Britney alone dancing," he said. "And one of the little tricks that I like to do is stand right off camera and scream words at her to try and get motivation from her and coach her through the little scenario that she's in, so we did that in this video. And I know there was a picture posted of a bunch of microphones around her face, and that's one of the scenes in particular where I was screaming at her on the side — in a good way."

So, what does he scream at her? "Tiger! I scream tiger," he dished. "When we first started working and I had her back in the studio, I was referring to how she danced when we were working together in the past, when we were doing 'Slave,' 'Toxic,' like some of those things. She used to have a prowl about her and an attack that to me was like a tiger, so I kept telling her, 'I want to see the tiger back,' " he revealed. "I scream the word 'tiger,' so 'tiger' seems to work. It makes her laugh, so it works."

Britney Spears Didn't Use Body Double For Hold It Against Me Video

A publicist for Britney Spears has denied the star uses a body double in her upcoming music video for Hold It Against Me.

The singer recently shot the promo with Jonas Akerlund - the director behind Lady GaGa's acclaimed Telephone video - and some reports claimed he was unhappy as Brit hired a lookalike for some scenes.
But now Spears' rep has dismissed the story, revealing that Britney did all the dancing herself. "The accusations could not be further from the truth," says the spokesperson.

"Britney worked extremely hard on this video and rehearsed for six weeks prior to shooting. Fans will immediately see how inaccurate these claims are once they see the video."

Akerlund has also denied the reports, going on to praise Spears. "(Britney's) been great throughout the entire process," he shared. "At the end of the shoot I got the warmest hug I ever got from an artist, and I look forward to hugging her again very soon!

"I've been around long enough to know when an artist gives it their all, and to me it doesn't get better than this. This video is gonna be f**king awesome. It's all Britney."

POLL : BRITNEY SPEARS vs LADY GAGA PART 2

They are two of the biggest pop stars on the planet right now, and both Lady GaGa and Britney Spears have new music out this year.

Britney was first out of the traps with her dancey with a hint of dub step tune Hold It Against Me. We loved it from the very first time we heard it because it immediately made us want to run to the nearest dance floor and go nuts.

Lady GaGa’s new hit-in-the-making Born This Way only just hit the internet, and we also loved it from the first listen. It’s an energetic anthem, with love yourself lyrics.

Both pop goddesses also have albums out this year. Britney’s Femme Fatale is out on 28 March (which is actually very soon indeed – yay), while our eardrums won’t experience GaGa’s new album, which is also called Born This Way, until May.

Clearly 2011 is going to be a big year for both ladies, but now you’ve all had a bit of time to digest Lady G’s new track we want to know which single do you like best?

Britney Spears Tops Twitter Trends This Week, Over Egypt, Gaga, & Bieber

Britney Spears Twitter followers made her the trends winner of the week over Egypt's uprising, Super Bowl news and even Justin Bieber

In a media column in Advertising Age, the Twitter winner of the week was announced and even explained. Ms. Britney topped the opening of Justin Bieber's movie "Never Say Never", the release of Lady Gaga's new song, "Born This Way" and a revolution in Egypt.

The week for counting purposes ends on Thursday night, so Friday's news out of Egypt which has sent #CongratsEgypt climbing up to the top of the Twitter trend lists is not counted in the results. Britney Spears apparently has the savviest Twitter advisers in the business.

How do they do it? Britney's people leaked a song from her new collection in January. "Hold It Against Me" which was known as #HIAM, raced through the Twitter-verse simply because it was leaked and not confirmed as official.

The need to know of its authenticity drove the second wave of tweets when Spears' advisers let it be known that indeed this was a release by her people. Then came release of artwork reportedly from the album cover. That spread like wildfire and when it was about to become old news, lo and behold, Britney's management team found a new way to keep her name at the top of the Twitter trends.

News of a music video to accompany the first song off the new album, entitled "Femme Fatale", fanned the flames again. Of course, there had to be clips from the video sprinkled around the Internet that immediately got tweeted around the world. Not one, not two or even three clips made the rounds. So far, and it's unclear if this is the end of the video leakage, seven clips were released like the dripping of a faucet.

It's not over yet however because the date of the video's debut was teased. All intentions are to make that first appearance on February 17, just prior to a new episode of "Jersey Shore" on MTV. That is merely the marketing plan for HIAM. The full "Femme Fatale" collection is expected to drop in late March, which gives the Spears camp another six weeks to keep her at the top of the Twitter Trends chart until then.
